Captain Richard Pagán

Captain Richard

Captain Richard has more than 40 years experience in all types of boating vessels including small boats with outboard, sail boats up to 65 feet, cruiser yachts up to 75 feet.  At the present time he owns a sailboat, runabout ski boat and several rigid inflatable boats as part of his inventory of vessels.

Richard was born in the beautiful island of Puerto Rico and was privileged to live in an area where he was able to do an  abundant amount of sailing, mostly around the island itself, all the US and the British Virgin Islands. Other areas include, The Bahamas, Jamaica, Bermuda, Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, San Francisco,  the entire east coast of the US and many more exotic areas and islands. He moved to Wilmington, NC (New Hanover County) in 1989.  With passion Richard says: “I love it and I am here to stay”.

While sailing the Carolinas for over 30 years,  Captain Richard has developed the local knowledge that is crucial for a successful charter business.  Knowledgeable with the do’s and don’ts, as well as where to go, and NOT to. The secluded areas where the exotic birds migrate to, where the dolphins and their pups go to eat and play, exotic landscapes and islands, the best locations to spend over-nighters for some of the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets in the world, the right palaces for safe swimming and water sports, or just travel and sight-see up and down the beautiful Intracoastal water way.

Over the years, Captain Richard has become educated while living near the ocean, becoming  familiar with many different types of boating vessels.  After moving to Wilmington he has sharpened his seaman skills and knowledge by taking many classes at Cape Fear Community College including boat handling,  weather, charting, mechanical, vessel safety, electrical and repairs, search and emergency rescue, CPR and first aid, towing, and more.

For the past 5 years Captain Richard has been a lieutenant of the United States power squadron receiving many merit marks.  This is an organization whose mission is to improve maritime safety and enjoyment through classes in seamanship, navigation and other related subjects.

Captain Richard co-shared the vessel safety program and has inspected several hundred variety of vessels.  During the years of inspecting vessels, he has been training boaters and other individuals in the do’s and don’ts of vessel safety and maintenance and has gotten to know all the local dock masters, commanders as well as service men/women with the local US Coast guard. “I find this knowledge to be crucial if you are running a charter business in the case of needed assistance or emergencies. I am very familiar with their operations”, said Capt. Richard.  “As you could probably tell, I am very passionate about enjoying the boating lifestyle which is why I decided to start sharing my experiences with others” he continued.

Capt. Richard subsequently became a licensed USCG Merchant Mariner Captain with many credentials purchased the Albin 34 Fast trawler, and completely rebuilt it from top to bottom, hence giving birth to Stargazer as a redesigned, customized, solid, safe, comfortable, and practical beautiful sailing machine.  With this vessel and all my knowledge that I have acquired, my goal is to provide a unique boat charter service. You are now able to receive the level of service previously reserved for the privileged 1% of the world.

“The only regret I have is that I wish that I would have shared more of these experiences earlier with lots of friends and loved ones  to enjoy something so unique and special. Now I am able to bring friends and family together and create memories that will last a lifetime.” – Capt. Richard
