Captain Richard, a native of the enchanting island of Puerto Rico, has charted a life rich with nautical experiences. His journey commenced amidst the turquoise waters of his homeland, where he mastered sailing around the captivating scenery of the US and British Virgin Islands, along with other mesmerizing destinations including The Bahamas, Bermuda, Cancun, and Puerto Vallarta. His passion for the sea has led him from the bustling coastlines of San Francisco to the picturesque shores of the entire eastern coast of the United States, exploring numerous alluring regions.

 

With over 40 years of maritime experience, Captain Richard is proficient in navigating a wide range of vessels. His expertise extends from agile boats with outboard motors to elegant sailboats up to 65 feet, and luxurious cruiser yachts as long as 75 feet. His current collection features a custom-built 38-foot Albin Trawler, a sailboat, a ski runabout boat, and several high-quality rigid inflatable boats, each carefully maintained for optimal safety and comfort.

 

Captain Richard's voyages have been adorned with some of the world's most beautiful sunrises and sunsets, creating unforgettable vistas across the East Coast, South America, and the Caribbean. In 1989, he anchored in the delightful city of Wilmington, NC, a place he now affectionately calls home. His three-decade-long sailing experience in the Carolinas has equipped him with critical local knowledge, pivotal for successful charter operations – an understanding of the best spots to explore and those to avoid.

 

Through his explorations of the North Carolina Coast, Captain Richard has uncovered secret retreats: tranquil areas where exotic birds migrate, where dolphins and their young frolic, and secluded islands with breathtaking landscapes. He continuously enhances his maritime expertise through advanced courses at Cape Fear Community College, covering comprehensive aspects of boating from repair and maintenance to navigation, safety, and emergency procedures.

 

His commitment to maritime safety and education is further exemplified by his service as a lieutenant in the United States Power Squadron. There, Captain Richard led the vessel safety program and conducted extensive vessel inspections. This role deepened his connections with local dock masters and US Coast Guard personnel, enriching his understanding of maritime safety protocols.

At his core, Captain Richard is deeply passionate about the boating lifestyle and the tranquil beauty that the ocean offers. This passion drove him to become a licensed USCG Merchant Mariner Captain, amassing a wealth of credentials. The Albin 38 Fast Trawler, meticulously restored over six years, is a testament to his dream – a vessel crafted for comfort, safety, and memorable adventures, whether it's custom cruises or the dignified ritual of scattering ashes at sea.

 

In retrospect, Captain Richard's only wish is that he had shared these oceanic treasures earlier with loved ones. Today, he is dedicated to bringing friends and families together, to immerse in the splendor and tranquility of the sea – forging indelible memories and experiences that transcend the ordinary.
